G7 leaders warn Russia of fresh sanctions over Ukraine
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-27707518
‘Leaders of the G7 industrial nations meeting in Brussels say they are prepared to impose further sanctions on Russia over its actions in Ukraine.
A joint statement condemned Moscow for its “continuing violation” of Ukraine’s sovereignty.
The G7 summit is the first since Russia was expelled from the group following its annexation of Crimea in March.
On Thursday, leaders are discussing the global economic outlook, climate change and development issues.
Although Russian President Vladimir Putin is not at the Brussels summit, he will hold face-to-face talks with some G7 leaders – not including US President Barack Obama – in Paris afterwards.
However, both Mr Putin and Mr Obama will attend a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in France on Friday.’
The body language should be interesting tomorrow!
The stark reality of what has not been reported on any mainstream media channel is captured in this blog by Professor de Noli, a human rights’ activist living in Sweden, who was himself imprisoned under Pinochet’s dictatorship in Chile. WARNING: There are images in this blog which are not for the squeamish. The BBC, as ever, is disgusting. What do we pay our licence fees for?

The lady died later in hospital I have been informed. Her name was Inna. I am sorry to have to post something so shocking but it is the reality of civilian casualties in modern warfare.
I don’t know how she remained conscious, John. She was ‘stove-in’ and like most civilians, in the wrong place at the wrong time. This reminds me of Sarajevo and sniping bastards, but much worse from hi-tech ordnance in this instance. War on civilians is a relatively new phenomenon.
Squonk, hello, are you on-line? I wondered if you had any more news from the enigmatic world of Emergency Action Messages.

Mary, Bildt is also a Bilderberger, part of the new world order aspirants.
Aspirant (аспирант) in Russian means a post-graduate. But is Bildt’s case I meant somebody with aspirations for global domination.
I got busy writing my blog and missed “But is Bildt’s case . . .” when I should have written “But in Bildt’s case . . .” Ah, well, here’s my blog piece on Scottish independence and why I am for it.

Anyone wanting to listen in and do their own plane-spotting

Tune to 11175 or 8992, click “USB” and listen. Most of the time you’ll hear static so click the “squelch” button. Mostly you’ll hear broadcasts from “Mainsail” but you can also (especially at night) hear flights.

Ben – continued from Craig’s
NATO official twitter accounts were tweeting the exercises heavily though. Anyone listening in would realise the power of the military might being demonstrated that night. They were broadcasting all the action on primary well-publicised frequencies they knew were the ones most listened to – you couldn’t miss it!
The Russians have got back in on the act recently and their command and control “Doomsday” planes are often in the air – complete with civilian transponders so you can track them in real-time on flightradar24.com as well.
As far back as the 1950s/1960 the USAF has been transmitting “Skyking” messages.
http://www.lswilson.ca/fox-mem.htm
Several times a day at the moment you’ll still hear “Skyking, Skyking do not answer”
I see you picked up on my Doomsday Machine from Strangelove. Craig really has his head where the sun don’t shine on Russia. Tickling the tail of the Dragon sometimes means unintended consequences when you lack perspective and are stuck in some ideology like plaque in an artery.
AA; I have a small NOAA short-wave radio but I haven’t even opened. I am thinking of installing an antenna for the relays (is that what you call them?) in my area. Surrounded by mountains so line of sight is poor. Cost effective (cheap) recommendations?
Ben,
Not aware of specs of NOAA shortwave radio. For general short-wave listening with the ability to receive single-side-band (hams + military) this seems to be the cheapest generally recommended radio – the Chinese DEGEN DE1103 (widely available on ebay). Especially at night on shortwave you should be able to pickup worldwide signals at your location as they bounce back down.

Colonel Cassad: Slavyansk under fire (in Russian)
In Slavyansk, in the day goes on the quite senseless bombardment of the city centre with large caliber artillery. Principally civilian targets are hit, suggesting that civilian victims are desirable, otherwise there is no military reason to fire on areas with high-rise buildings, where there are no militia positions. DND Militia suffer only episodic losses which produce little influence on the defence system of the city, so the brunt of such terrorist attacks just goes on civilians. Attempts to intimidate the local population, by destruction, is in the spirit of the practice of the Nazis of WW II times, so that their modern Ukrainian imitators do not differ from them, except that the junta’s opportunities for the destruction of the Ukrainian people are just slightly less. In general, what is happening is a war crime that is broadcast live, which shows the connivance of the so-called “world community”.
The only thing that can put a stop to all this is militias switching to an attack (for which they obviously do not have enough forces) or the introduction of no-fly zones; what is lacking is the political will. So the militia in Slavyansk still have to sit in the defense and residents to hide in bomb shelters, waiting for changes in the strategic situation.
On this subject Strelkov has already quite clearly expressed himself:
Reinforcements in Slavyansk there are NOT. And, apparently, they are not planned. The enemy’s tanks sweep through the roads. After a hard shelling of the city centre, around – the broken glass and debris from trees. There are a number of fires. On the one hand, all right – we should create mobile reserves and protect the rest of the territory of Novorossia. On the other, if Slavyansk is not helped, all those mountains of shells that are now falling on us, will fall on other cities of Donetsk and Lugansk region. And it’s not the case that the “rear guard”, entrenched in Donetsk will stop the enemy like our troops do. So far, examples are directly of the opposite.
In any case, at resisting the regular army some 100 “special forces” or even 1000 (whether they are three times Alfa-Rambos”) will fail. Grief counselors in the Kremlin led the situation to the moment when an unavoidable dilemma arose: either Novorossia will be fully surrendered, or one must FIGHT for it in full force. There is no longer a third option; all other options were successfully “chewed over by spineless creatures” over the past month and a half.
Of course, to us, the defenders of Slavyansk, the second option seems to be the only one possible – on it depend the lives of our soldiers and their families and relatives. But Moscow has a different opinion. Judging by the “half-steps”, “the supply of spineless chewing creatures is far from being exhausted”.

Craig must be disinterested. He’s all EU and Scots Indy.
“Slavyansk militiamen reported on Friday that fierce fighting had resumed in the village of Semyonovka. “At the moment, intense artillery strikes are being carried out against roadblocks near Semyonovka. The Vostochny neighborhood has come under fire as well. The Ukrainian army is not currently using combat aircraft, but fierce fighting continues,” a local militia headquarters spokesman told Interfax.
Nearly all civilians have already fled the fighting in Semyonovka, where almost all houses have been damaged by artillery strikes, he said. It is not yet known whether any militiamen have been injured in the events.”

It’s not just Craig, Ben, its all the western media too. Everybody seems to have got so sucked into mundane affairs the important things are being ignored. Poroshenko has shown his true colours. Putin said before his inauguration that Poroshenko had no blood on his hands yet. All that changed on Saturday. Yesterday in Slavyansk according to reports, a four year old girl was killed with others in a mortar strike. Hopefully Poroshenko will not last long. And even if he does there are now so many Ukrainian deaths in Eastern Ukraine that they will never give their hearts to this heartless regime.
I have to admit that Craig has surprised me over Ukraine. He was so opposed to the Andijan massacre in Uzbekistan but the ongoing massacre in Eastern Ukraine is the same thing, government military blasting away at their own people.
I was pleased to read that the Czech Republic and Slovakia have both decided not to allow NATO bases on their land. I hope Scotland does the same.
Craig is clearly a Statist, John. I’m beginning to think his whistleblower bona fides are an accident related to his sexual preoccupations. He has capitalized on it efficiently without genuine follow-up
Aint the last decade of wars by western Evil just been Hard to take… and they want ever more death n destruction…. makes me sick…
He depicted those holding control in dozens of eastern cities and towns as “bandits,” “criminals,” “terrorists” and “Russian mercenaries,” foreshadowing a renewed offensive by the Ukrainian military and allied right-wing militias.
Even as Poroshenko spoke, there was an assassination attempt on Denis Pushilin, a pro-Russian leader in Donetsk, resulting in the shooting death of an assistant, Maksym Petruhin. Photographs on Ukrainian news sites showed Petruhin, wearing a business suit, lying face down on a street alongside a parked car with at least seven bullet holes in the rear door panel.
“For peace to become lasting, we must get used to living in constant combat readiness,” the tycoon known as Ukraine’s “chocolate king” declared. “We have to keep the gunpowder dry. The army and its re-equipment by means of national military-industrial complex is our top priority… Our army must become a true elite of the Ukrainian community.”
Insisting that “great sacrifices” would have to be made by the Ukrainian population, Poroshenko stated: “Those who grudge money for the armed forces feed the foreign army… Our most reliable allies and the best guarantors of peace are our army, fleet, the National Guard and professional special forces.”
…….
At a meeting with Poroshenko, Biden reiterated American support for his regime. “America’s with you,” Biden said. “That is not hyperbole.”
In conjunction with Biden’s visit, the White House announced $48 million in new aid to Ukraine, as well as $8 million for Moldova and $5 million for Georgia, both of which are also expected to sign agreements with the EU this month.
According to the White House statement, the aid would help the Ukrainian government “conduct key reforms, build law enforcement capacity, and strengthen national unity.” It specifically committed the US to supporting Ukraine’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity” and “economic development,” including “the reforms needed to make its IMF and World Bank programs.”
Poroshenko promised to move swiftly to an economic agreement with the EU from which Ukraine’s former government backed away last November, fearing the social unrest that would be triggered by the austerity dictates of the EU and the International Monetary Fund. “My pen is in my hands,” he said, pointing out that the EU association agreement was but the first step “towards fully-fledged membership of Ukraine in the European Union.”
The unelected interim government installed in February has already begun to implement the austerity measures demanded by the EU and IMF, including scrapping domestic energy subsidies and allowing the currency, the hryvnia, to depreciate about 30 percent against the US dollar. Average gas prices for Ukrainian households began rising by more than 50 percent in May, and heating prices are expected to climb by about 40 percent, starting in July.
Far harsher measures are still to come, including a freeze on public-sector wages, mass redundancies of government workers, the cancellation of scheduled pension increases and a range of social spending cuts.

John: Not to get too far out on the fringe, but I think the need for heroes has reached it’s peak. As I get closer looks, either by historical reads or personal contact, feet of clay has been bogging us down with false hope. It’s only by individual transformation that we can proceed to a better world. I have seen many tin-gods in my day. Some of them were recognized early, others shook my foundation after their fall from the pedestal. I think my only heroes are people I know personally, who have surmounted an obstacle and have grown taller in stature, by my measure. As you may have seen here I have also grown skeptical of Glenn and the Omidyar project.

Brian, I’ve never known Craig to express opinion that he dose not hold, and he has stuck his neck out against state misdoings which have not done him a bit of good. His campaigns and exclusives against the state have shown total resolve. I am thinking about the Atlantic Bridge, Gould, Fox, Werritty affair as well as his ongoing campaign against the Karimovs.
I have no information but speculate with his experience in the diplomatic service there may be an opportunity for him with the new Scottish government should independence be voted for.
What is happening in Ukraine, without a squeak from our media, is deplorable. How anyone could side with Poroshenko and the thugs he spearheads is beyond me. A village was razed to the ground yesterday.
Ukraine is not going to pay its debt to Russia for gas it has used but I cannot see how how the gas can be cut off without cutting off Europe. So, unless I misunderstand, this may not be the negotiating lever I hoped it might be, but my wish is I’m wrong on this because there is no water in many areas of Eastern Ukraine, no means of withdrawing cash, no food.
One thing I have noticed is that whenever the Ukraine debate is opened up on Craig’s blog most of the regular trolls go AWOL. It suggests to me that they are probably paid agents. That being so you would expect they could come up with more enlightened and informed trolls.
Thanks Brian for the link.
The reason the trolls go away when Ukraine crops up is that if the debate is opened up enlightened people who use Craig’s blog as a source of news, and there are many of these, would see what is really going on, but with no debate they can’t. I am surprised that Craig himself seems to have joined them!!!

it is most likely… you can not get closer to Afghanistan crimes than me… my son was over there… front line.. blood on the bayonet …. Happy chappies with bbc presenter .. it’ a hard one for me DOT DOT
Bless Brian, you two must have some indept discussions at times.
If I would have served today, guarding the Termez border crossing as part of a German contingent, and watching the lorry loads of precursor chems passing the border into Afghanistan, waved on by NATO troops, if I would have to serve and biwak next to one of Dostums heroin factories, I’d do my nut in, I would have been sent home in disgrace.
I’m sure his recollections differe widely from that of the Biased Blurb club.
And five NATO troops killed there yesterday. Nationalities not stated. Barely a mention in the corporate media. It has all been The Trojan Horse demonization of Muslims, D Day what SAMCAM was wearing and now the Junk theJuncker gambit.
There has also been an assassination attempt on one of the Karzai replacement hopefuls, Abdullah Abdullah I think, from memory, but I might be wrong,
Brian; Many a restless night for you and yours. He has returned home for good, as has mine? My eldest, since 9/11 had wanted to be a Marine. Even though we didn’t like it, we had no choice but to go along with it. His first deployment was Al Asad, but his duties kept him in the compound. Next he went shipboard and cruised the Med for 9 months. The only hazard he faced directly was the enlisted personnel Mess hall. His discharge was in late 2012. My hope is that your son’s experience was not lastingly traumatic. We feel very fortunate.
So the propaganda for war against people with brown skins got to your son Ben, much as it did to very many thousands of young kids here. Shame on the politicians and their spin merchants. Bernays still lives.
I am glad that both your son and Brian’s returned home, changed very possibly but unharmed. Rose Gentle’s did not.

Mary,
I think the author is mistaken – at least in the specific meaning of the text. He is referred to as “Our Ukraine” insider. Not “Our Ukraine Insider”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Ukraine_(political_party).
Certainly he was known to the Americans and vice versa but all they were saying in the memo is that he is someone on the inside of Our Ukraine party. At least that’s how I read it.
Further from the linked article
Except they didn’t call him “our insider”. He could still be an asset of course but the author doesn’t seem to have cottoned on to “Our Ukraine” being a party.

An Open Letter to Ban Ki-Moon and the UN
” Filtration camps for civilians, innocent civilians burned alive in buildings, civilians being attacked by an illegal government with military hardware, cluster bombs and white phosphorous being dropped in civilian areas, women and children murdered, arbitrary abuse and detention of journalists…these are scenes all too familiar to those who know the history of the Second World War and the behavior of Nazis…but will the UN act and do anything about it and punish the perpetrators or their enablers?
A democratically elected government of Ukraine was overthrown by force and violence by one of the Security Council members. It is no secret that overhead in a phone conversation was Victoria Nuland discussing who was their choice to be Ukraine’s leader.
Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, are you supposed to be the Secretary-General of the United Nations Organization? Are you not supposed to promote peace and international law in the international community? Yes, or no?
If no, then fine. Let us admit once and for all that the United Nations only does well with a small number of humanitarian efforts, helping refugees, distributing food, upholding gender equality, defending women’s rights, the rights of the LGBT community and so on and so forth…
” If there is to be inaction when crimes against humanity are approved of by the Big Three, then the UN should be immediately dissolved as a totally useless organization that only panders to the will of western nations, specifically the “exceptional/indispensable” Americans.
Why does the United Nations ignore the war crimes being committed by the Kiev junta against the civilian population there?….
“In addition to always supporting western pressure against Iran and others, the UN gave full support to the military aggression carried out against Libya, accepting without hesitation the false trumped up claims of the imperialist powers that the Libyan people were “under attack” from their own army troops. What resulted was the total devastation of Libya, turning the most prosperous country in Africa into a pile of rubble and unrestrained terrorism.
So why was the UN so concerned about the fake, bogus charges against the Libyan government, (they tried the same with Syria), but sees and hears nothing about the massively and well documented crimes in Ukraine?

Some More ….From Putin –
” In the past 20 years, our partners have been trying to convince Russia of their good intentions, their readiness to jointly develop strategic cooperation. However, at the same time they kept expanding NATO, extending the area under their military and political control ever closer to our borders. And when we rightfully asked: “Don’t you find it possible and necessary to discuss this with us?” they said: “No, this is none of your business.” Those who continue insisting on their exclusivity strongly dislike Russia’s independent policy. The events in Ukraine prove this. They also prove that a model of relations full of double standards does not work with Russia.
Nevertheless, I hope pragmatism will eventually prevail. We need to get rid of ambitions, of attempts to establish a ‘world barracks’ and arrange everybody by rank, or to impose single rules of behaviour and life, and to finally begin building relations based on equality, mutual respect and concern for mutual interests. It is time we admit each other’s right to be different, the right of every country to live its own life rather than to be told what to do by someone else.
Colleagues, in its foreign policy Russia has been consistently proceeding from the notion that solutions to global and regional conflicts should be sought not through confrontation, but through cooperation and compromise. We advocate the supremacy of international law while supporting the UN’s leading role.
International law should be mandatory for all and should not be applied selectively to serve the interests of individual select countries or groups of states, and most importantly, it should be interpreted consistently. It is impossible to interpret it in one way today, and in a different way tomorrow to match the political goals of the day.”

Thanks Mary for your concern. These trawlers who trawl the blog (Is that where the word troll comes from?) for someone to attack are very insecure in their opinions. I tolerate them up to a point. Occasionally they are all capable of rational comment but most of the time they target an individual, often together, to try and weaken that individual’s resolve.

Ben, yes I posted links to that when it first came out a couple of days ago. Keep up mate. But this is hot off the press and very telling. The Russians have presented their monitoring findings and, although they have not made any accusations, they have asked a lot of questions. The video in this article lasts for half an hour. There is a translator giving an account in English. While the Russians have made no accusations the Americans have accused the freedom fighters, but they have not provided any satellite data to back up their accusations. I am taking a rest from Craig’s blog because I keep getting on-topic comments deleted because they come from a Russian news media outlet. So I am posting it here. It’ll just bounce off his armadillo hide, John. I’ve had a post removed that was totally on topic, but if you take it as cough medicine without complaint, it will persist.
I’ve asked a simple question about his entire premise of the last two posts, and he hasn’t the courtesy to respond. I think he’s still interviewing for a job with Charles Crawford.
I can see nobody’s watched the video in the link I provided above. It’s only half an hour. It has not been mentioned in the BBC 10.00 o’clock news.
I’ve read Craig’s latest post blaming Russia. The genocide has been caused by the fascists, funded by the western neocons. They have put out the false information. Civilians are dying daily in Yatsenyuk and Poroshenko’s civil war on a previously peaceful country. Craig, as far as I know, has been a fervent supporter of the underdogs oppressed by rich countries in conflicts. But over Ukraine he has changed my opinion, in that you can get it right sometimes, and get it awfully wrong at others. Russia has provided what evidence it has. It raises a lot of questions but makes no accusations. From day one the US claims to have had evidence that Russia did it but has not provided that evidence. My guess is they are still manufacturing it. Craig has lost it over Ukraine. Never in the field of human conflict, can such an intelligent man provide so few pieces of hard evidence for the case he is trying to make, to enable so many usual detractors from his viewpoint to pat him on the back. Well done Craig.
I actually read the link before you posted here, John. Frankly, the tone at CM makes such a submission suspect unless craig embraces the idea. The Charles Crawford neo-cons rule the roost.
Izzat..what ya meant john….
Very strange world of befuddled info…miss info….
Here is a writer i greatly respect…Finian-Cunningham… Whom is correct in these matters..??????
” In a devastating twist to emerge over the weekend it now seems that the Malaysian civilian airliner downed over Ukraine was most probably brought down as a result of sabotage by the US-backed Kiev regime.
The purpose of this audacious act of mass murder – in which 298 lives were lost – was carried out with the intention of framing the Russian government. Washington, the chief sponsor of the Kiev regime, must have known about the plot, if not being fully complicit in it.
The key to this dramatic twist is the identification of incriminating audio tapes over the weekend as fake – tapes that were created initially to implicate Moscow, as part of a massive black operation involving the destruction of the civilian airliner and all those onboard.”

Yup, he’s on Squonk, conversing with California Ben, who is spreading his usual poison about Craig, as in
“It’ll just bounce off his armadillo hide, John. I’ve had a post removed that was totally on topic, but if you take it as cough medicine without complaint, it will persist.
I’ve asked a simple question about his entire premise of the last two posts, and he hasn’t the courtesy to respond. I think he’s still interviewing for a job with Charles Crawford.”
I told you to insinuations and slanders wouldn’t be long in coming! (except that they haven’t yet summoned up the balls to post that sort of shit on CM itself)

Perhaps somebody would share it on Craig’s latest post because it contains a lot more factual information than his lengthy rant against Russia, and all things Russian. The question is will it get deleted?
James Phillips has gone missing in Eastern Ukraine. A Londoner he has been working for Russia Today. He went missing near the airport at Donetsk.
Two or three Ukrainian fighter jets have been shot down.
Sorry, it’s Graham Phillips.

Apparently he has been taken hostage near Donetsk airport.
Something is afoot.

Donetsk, Ukraine (CNN) — Two Ukrainian military jets were shot down Wednesday in the eastern part of the country, where pro-Russian rebels have fought against government forces, a Ukrainian military office said.
The pilots ejected, the office said. Information on their condition wasn’t immediately available.
An air defense system shot down the jets after the pilots completed a task in Dmytrivka, a village in Ukraine’s Donetsk region near the border with Russia, the military press office said.

Even more damning of Kiev is this. And I’m getting reports (Russian) that the Pravy (Right) Sector or fascist leader Yarosh has been shot dead though cannot find any corroboration. It might be a false story because Yarosh is wanted by Interpol for war crimes.

Still no reporting in the west of the ongoing civil war in Ukraine. No mention that people have taken to the square in Kiev again. No mention of the constant shelling of civilians in Donetsk and Lugansk. No mention of the deaths in one day of some 250 Ukrainian troops near the Russian border.

Crap indeed Mary. Craig Murray is quite right in his opposition to Israeli-promulgated genocide in Gaza but when it comes to Ukraine he has an unbelievable bias and blindness. Whenever I try to raise the issue my comments get removed. So I comment less and less.
His knee-jerk reaction, in line with the western media, was that the Russians brought MH17 down.
http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2014/07/mh17-downed-by-elite-collusion/
It is virtually certain that two fighter jets from the Ukrainian air force brought down MH17 and yet nothing in our media. Kiev will not release air-traffic control data for that day. The US will not release its satellite images for that day. Why is the west supporting these fascists?

All you ever end up with out of modern-day conflicts is a failed state. Before Poroshenko’s forces waged civil-war on its own people in Eastern Ukraine more than 90% wanted independence from the Fascists. Now I’ll wage it is nearer 100% and those 1,100 families and friends who have lost loved ones, and the families of countless more injured, will have great difficulty forgiving these evil beings that stole power in Kiev backed by US dollars.
It is time for Europe to tell the US where to go.
Cold War Two
By Bill Blum –
” My personal breath of fresh air in recent years has been the television station RT (formerly Russia Today). On a daily basis many progressives from around the world (myself included occasionally) are interviewed and out of their mouths come facts and analyses that are rarely heard on CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, NPR, PBS, Fox News, BBC, etc. The words of these progressives heard on RT are typically labeled by the mainstream media as “Russian propaganda”, whereas I, after a long lifetime of American propaganda, can only think: “Of course. What else are they going to call it?”
As for Russia being responsible for “creating the conditions” that led to the shooting down of Flight 17, we should keep in mind that the current series of events in Ukraine was sparked in February when a US-supported coup overthrew the democratically-elected government and replaced it with one that was more receptive to the market-fundamentalism dictates of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the European Union. Were it not for the coup there would have been no eastern rebellion to put down and no dangerous war zone for Flight 17 to be flying over in the first place.
The new regime has had another charming feature: a number of outspoken neo-Nazis in high and low positions, a circumstance embarrassing enough for the US government and mainstream media to turn it into a virtual non-event. US Senator John McCain met and posed for photos with the leader of the neo-Nazi Svoboda Party, Oleh Tyahnybok (photos easily found on the Internet). Ukraine – whose ties to Naziism go back to World War Two when their homegrown fascists supported Germany and opposed the Soviet Union – is on track to becoming the newest part of the US-NATO military encirclement of Russia and possibly the home of the region’s newest missile base, target Moscow.
It is indeed possible that Flight 17 was shot down by the pro-Russian rebels in Eastern Ukraine in the mistaken belief that it was the Ukrainian air force returning to carry out another attack. But other explanations are suggested in a series of questions posed by Russia to the the Secretary-General of the UN General Assembly, accompanied by radar information, satellite images, and other technical displays:”
“Why was a military aircraft flying in a civil aviation airway at almost the same time and the same altitude as a civilian passenger aircraft? We would like to have this question answered.”
“Earlier, Ukrainian officials stated that on the day of the accident no Ukrainian military aircraft were flying in that area. As you can see, that is not true.”
http://williamblum.org/aer/read/131
Thanks for that link to Blum , Brian, it is to be seen what the EU’s politicians make of letting one of the oldest fascists in Europe join their club, devastatoing if its allowed to happen.
If Ukraine is allowed to take the course of joining the EU, then I question its existence and aims under the statutes of Rome. If the EU is just another US concubine to be used as they see fit, then this will cause turmoil in Europe, undermining everything that has been established sofar.
A break up of the EU would suit the US economy, the Ukraine’s joining will split the EU and weaken its position as a possible balance to a rising east Asia and Russia, and the US on the other hand, it will be a backward step into the 1970’s of fear and loathing, more colonial proxy wars and ‘shite’.
I will not be a supporter of the EU anymore if its just a holding pen for fascists worldwide.
PS Had my lift cancelled to the DTRH, so unless something else crops up, I’m unlikely to attend, but still coming up in September.
Excuse the frivolity but quite a good satire.

Although the BBC has rarely mentioned the genocide in Ukraine today it made brief reference to the more than 2,000 killed in Eastern Ukraine. The west should never be forgiven after funding regime-change then encouraging its puppets to take Eastern Ukraine at any cost. Poroshenko, Yatsenyuk, Tyahnybok and their co-conspirators should all go on trial for war-crimes. It is illegal to wage war on your own people. The Nazis of course should also face trial.

Western media inspect Russian aid convoy to Ukraine and find…..aid
Posted by SueC on August 14, 2014, 6:08 pm
The guys driving and accompanying the convoy are allowing representatives from western media (the Guardian’s Shaun-of-the-dead-Walker is there) to select trucks which they then open and allow the journalists to inspect the contents. So far, they’ve found artillery, heavy weapons and tanks cleverly disguised as wheat, water and baby food. http://rt.com/news/180336-convoy-russia-lugansk-journalists/

It is unfortunate that the drivers seem more keen to speak to the Guardian than the ICRC. Rather encourages the idea that it is a stunt of some kind. White trucks all over the news driving around in circles.

Connecting the dots….http://www.voltairenet.org/article185074.html
“Faced with economic warfare, Moscow has chosen to respond with similar measures, but in agriculture, not finance. Two considerations guided this choice: first, short-term, other BRICS can mitigate the consequences of so-called “sanctions”; on the other hand, medium and long term, Russia is preparing for war and intends to completely rebuild its agriculture to go it alone.
Moreover, the Anglo-Saxons have planned to paralyze Russia from within. First by activating, via the Islamic Emirate (EIS), terrorist groups within its Muslim population, and organizing a media challenge in the municipal elections of September 14. Large sums of money have been distributed to all opposition candidates in the thirty largest cities involved, while at least 50,000 Ukrainian agitators, mixed with refugees, are regrouping in St. Petersburg. Most of them have dual Russian citizenship. This is clearly to reproduce at the provincial level protests that followed the elections in Moscow in December 2011 – with the addtition of violence; and engage the country in a color revolution process to which certain officials in the ruling class are favorable.
In the short term the big winner from the food sanctions looks like being Turkey. A NATO country a lot further down the road to EU membership than Ukraine.
They calmed the storm in Ferguson, Mo., but kindle the fires elsewhere.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-08-14/us-sending-600-troops-apcs-and-tanks-countries-bordering-russia-reassure-threatened-
“While the world is focused on the first deployment of US marines in Iraq in nearly a decade, as “humanitarian advisors” of course so as not to destroy the Nobel peace prize-winning aura of the US president who is rapidly becoming a warmonger on par with his predecessor, a far more dangerous development took place overnight with nobody noticing, when the Pentagon announced that approximately 600 soldiers from the Army’s 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division will deploy to Poland and the Baltic states to help reassure European allies who feel threatened by Russian military moves. And while most Americans may be geographically challenged, Russians know very well that all of these countries border on Russia. As such this very demonstrative military expansion by NATO powers to “pre-contain” Russian military agression will only lead to one thing: even more “defensive” escalation.

Mr Goss, you claim to be an educated man.
“Genocide” – how can you spout nonsense like the above? You even contradict yourself in the sentence itself : 2000 deaths in Eastern Ukraine – out of a population of many millions- is, while regrettable, not “genocide”.
How do you expect anyone to take the rest of what you write seriously when you come up with bollocks like that?
Hmmm. How many killed in the baby-step toward genocide? Big things often start small.

Ukraine’s Forces Attack Russian Armoured Convoy
Russian military personnel sit atop armoured vehicles outside Kamensk-Shakhtinsky
British PM David Cameron says he is “gravely concerned” after Kiev’s forces destroyed Russian tanks that crossed into Ukraine.
Kiev’s forces say they attacked a Russian armoured convoy that crossed into Ukraine “and part of it no longer exists”.
Military officials in Kiev said they tracked the vehicles, including armoured personnel carriers, from the border and then attacked with artillery.
Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko discussed the incursion with British Prime Minister David Cameron and said a “considerable part of this equipment was destroyed overnight by Ukrainian artillery”.
Mr Cameron expressed “grave concerns” at the situation.

Dutch Professor apologizing for MH17 tragedy media coverage in the Netherlands
ORIENTAL REVIEW publishes an Open Letter to President Putin by Dutch Professor Cees J. Hamelink on the furious 3-weeks-long international media campaign blaming Russia in the tragedy of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine on July 17, 2014. Today when the perpetrators are clearly determined (a Ukrainian air wing supported by air-defence on the ground, as it was recently acknowledged by the mainstream ruling party-affiliated press in Malaysia), the governments of Netherlands, UK and Ukraine are trying to conceal the results of investigation. So now it is critically important not to let them silence the issue. We should demand a transparent investigation and bring the perpetrators (Western-backed criminal regime in Kiev) to justice.
The text was originally published at the web-site of Dutch NGO “Reverse”.

Ben
You have a point, but Mr Goss is claiming that there is a genocide now. And that is a shameful misuse of that word.
gen·o·cide
/ˈjenəˌsīd/
noun
the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation.
The use seems apt to me.
Massacre too. We could use the old French word too.
mas-sa-cre
[mas-uh-ker] Spell Syllables
noun
1.
the unnecessary, indiscriminate killing of a large number of human beings or animals, as in barbarous warfare or persecution or for revenge or plunder.
2.
a general slaughter, as of persons or animals:
“the massacre of millions during the war.”
Origin
1575-85; (noun) < Middle French massacre, noun derivative of massacrer, Old French maçacrer, macecler, probably < Vulgar Latin *matteūcculāre, verbal derivative of *matteūca mallet (see mashie, mace1); (v.) < Middle French massacrer
Word Origin and History for genocide. From the Greek of course.
1944, apparently coined by Polish-born U.S. jurist Raphael Lemkin in his work "Axis Rule in Occupied Europe" [p.19], in reference to Nazi extermination of Jews, lit. "killing a tribe," from Gk. genos "race, kind" (see genus ) + -cide. The proper formation would be *genticide.
Online Etymology Dictionary, © 2010 Douglas Harper
“It is hardly a secret that the conflict in Ukraine has less to do with “Russian aggression” and “European values” than with NATO expansion and Pipelineistan. Even as the NATO-backed Ukrainian regime and Russia are moving closer to a direct military confrontation, all the European Union seems to care about is the stable delivery of gas. After the freaks in Kiev announced that they may halt Russian energy transits through Ukraine, EU officials lost no time in reminding them of Europe’s priorities, which can be easily summarized: When Europe has to choose between Ukraine and Russian gas, the gas wins every time. Shortly afterwards, the European Council issued a statement urging Kiev to “to closely coordinate with the European Commission any actions regarding the transportation of Russian gas.” With energy transits through Ukraine threatened, Russia’s South Stream pipeline blocked and Azerbaijan’s Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) still in the works, some countries are now even considering to revive the Nabucco project in order to bring Iranian gas to Europe:”

Mary, I do believe you’ve shut up the big-mouthed small-minded interloper. Not for long I suspect, but well done. And thank you for the Dutch professor’s letter. When the truth gets out, and they will not be able to cover this up like they did Lockerbie, the world will know that western governments supported a fascist genocidal unelected government against an honest resistance who are fighting for real freedom.

dream on, Mr Goss. It’ll take more than obsessive twits like you and Mary to silence me.
PS – nice deviation, Mary – we’re talking about “genocide “and you suddenly give a definition of a “massacre”.
And even that doesn’t fit the bill, does it.
